How my role model Ritesh Agarwal taught me about staying grounded

I want to tell you a story about how my role model taught me about staying grounded…

Back in my second year of engineering college, I stumbled upon the story of Ritesh Agarwal, the founder of OYO.

At the time, I was just another student with ideas scribbled on paper and dreams that felt too big for my small town. But learning about Ritesh’s journey changed everything for me.

Here was someone who had started young, built something massive, and yet spoke with simplicity and humility. His story didn’t just inspire me to dream big – it taught me how to stay rooted while doing so.

When I founded my media company six years ago, I carried that lesson with me.

Over the years, as our small project evolved into a growing media brand, I faced moments of pride, success, and recognition. But every time I felt I was “getting there,” I remembered Ritesh’s humility – how he often credited his team, stayed curious, and continued learning like a beginner.

That mindset became my compass.
It reminded me that growth isn’t just about scaling numbers – it’s about scaling character.

It’s about leading with gratitude, listening more than you speak, and remembering where you started, no matter how far you go.

Today, as I look back on this 6-year journey, I realise that the best thing a role model can teach you isn’t just how to succeed – it’s how to stay grounded while doing so.

Stay ambitious. Stay humble. Always a learner.
